Preparing for a job interview - role play (6.C)

In a relaxed setting, role playing is an excellent approach to practice speaking English.

The students prepared their discourse in pairs after receiving an invitation to an interview. They also prepared a list of questions they believed would be asked during the interview. With such inquiries as:

  1. Tell about yourself…
  2. What are your strengths, best skills?
  3. What is your major weakness?
  4. What are your career goals, future plans?
  5. Why do we hire you?
  6. What salary do you expect to have? Explain?

Students practice being an interviewer and an interviewee during this activity, receive comments on their interviewing approach, and learn how to improvise and overcome obstacles that may arise along the way.

The students did an excellent job and showed their whole selves.
