Island Adventure – Survival Skills (5.C)
Learning how to survive in an emergency situation is important for everyone. Although wilderness-based survival situations are most common, survival situations can occur in urban and rural environments, too.
In the English lesson, students talk about survival skills, learn useful vocabulary and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The first lessons include the description of a survival scenario, the necessities for survival, and innovative ways to deal with such circumstances.
Following the exercise, participants were given the option to select four objects that would help them live in a desert island. After completing the worksheet and labelling the four objects, the groups determine what challenges they have to overcome on the island.
The students created an illustration and presented it to the class in order to better explain their group scenarios.
