CLIL: The Animal Kingdom - Classification of Animals
In this project, students explored the amazing world of animals through English. They learned to classify animals into groups like mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. Using simple vocabulary and fun activities, they described animal features, habitats, and actions. By working in teams and creating visual presentations, students developed both their science knowledge and English skills in a creative, hands-on way.
Our 4th-grade students learned key vocabulary related to animal classification. They explored different animal types such as mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, insects, spiders, and other invertebrates. They used descriptive words to talk about animal features like fur, feathers, scales, gills, wings, legs, backbones, and whether the animals are cold-blooded, warm-blooded, or lay eggs. Students also discussed various animal habitats including the forest, ocean, desert, jungle, polar regions, and rivers. To describe animal behaviors and actions, they practiced using verbs such as live, eat, swim, fly, crawl, jump, and walk.
